Welcome to The Ferguson Centre's Website The Centre, named in honour of the founding Dean of the
Faculty, was established in 2002 by the Faculty of Arts of The Open University
to promote interdisciplinary research into the cultures of Africa and
Asia. The drive to establish the Centre in the Faculty came from a broad
desire to extend further the reach of the Open University's research and
teaching. The Open University is in a unique position to foster cross-cultural
and interdisciplinary research, with the opportunity for collaborations
across disciplines and geographical areas. Ferguson Centre Staff
are drawn from the eight disciplines represented in the Faculty.
