About the OU Choir in relation to the Music Department There is an active choir in which various members of the department are involved, principally Bill Strang who has been its conductor for many years. The Open University Choir comprises staff members and postgraduate students based at Walton Hall, and is also open to members of the local community. The Choir supports the research of the Music Department, having given performances of Handel’s music for the Chapel Royal edited by Donald Burrows under his direction, and possibly the first performances since they were written in the 1950s of settings by Helen Perkin of poems by Keats which are being researched by Fiona Richards. It has also on occasion recorded music for undergraduate courses: Victorian hymns for A102 summer school and Olney hymns for A207. Visit The Open University Choir's website.
