These contain complete listings of all music departments worldwide, including all music departments and conservatoires in UK higher education.

The New York Public Library has an extensive list of Music Resources on the Internet. Middlebury College (USA) has a list of Online Sources for Ethnomusicological Information. The British Library maintains a list of catalogues of research resources.

Students and staff of the Open University can gain access to Grove Music online. This is the complete text of the multi-volume New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, 2nd ed., covering all aspects of classical, ancient, world and popular music; includes full text search, notated musical examples, and links to images, digital sounds and related sites.
