Science degrees

The Faculty of Science offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

The Science Faculty's undergraduate curriculum offers a wide range of study pathways to degree- level qualifications. At this level, you might study natural and environmental sciences, health sciences, mathematics or physics. Our popular taught postgraduate programme attracts around 600 students each year.

Why study science with The Open University?

Study science with The Open University and you’ll be part of a vibrant faculty of more than 200 staff and researchers who specialise in different research areas. From using chemistry to make our roads safer to analysing the contents of a comet and predicting volcanic eruptions, this faculty makes an immense contribution to the understanding of science.

Our science programmes attract over 15,000 students each year. With us, you’ll benefit from the highest quality teaching in a lively academic environment.

Perhaps you know one of our staff already: Professor Monica Grady, CBE, is a leading British space scientist, a Scientific Associate of the Natural History Museum, and Professor of Planetary and Space Science here at The Open University. Her response to the Philae landing was captured by BBC cameras and went viral in November 2014, making her an online star. Who wouldn’t want to study with teachers as passionate as this?
