Culture and environmental change in the Anthropocene

This research group draws together members of the OpenSpace Research Centre who have interests in the relations between global processes of environmental, cultural and political change. Our research areas include, but are not restricted to: the links between society, culture and environment; representation of the environment; biosecurities, geographies of the Anthropocene; informal and diverse economies; alternative food networks; sustainable consumption; media/culture and the environment; and environmental history and politics.

Externally funded projects in this field are conducted in partnership with national stakeholders such as the National Trust. Using unique approaches to data collection and dissemination, recent projects have been recognised for the positive impact they have had on the communities where they work.
